In 1985, Carling O'Keefe discontinued Calgary Beer in
Alberta, but continued to produce it and sell it in Saskatchewan.
It returned to the Calgary market in July of 1987, and was available
until the end of the 1988 olympics.
Molson, having acquired Carling in 1989, only sold the Calgary
brand in Saskatchewan as well, but honoured the 1992 one hundredth
anniversary of the Calgary Brewery, with a limited edition 10,000
case production run for the local market.
In November of 2011, a limited run of 150,000
bottles was produced for Calgary liquor stores.
Molson has stated that the beer could also be
available during the 2012 Calgary Stampede. But
limited time promotions and special events are
not enough.
Tell Molson it's time to sell Calgary Beer in Alberta year-round...
